Frozen Fuel Pt. 1

Description
READ TIM'S STRATEGY IN COMMENTS BELOW
You are not authorized to use the SD70's. This scenario is as close to impossible as it gets. Only splitting your train will get you over the grades. Know the line well before deciding your course of action.

The day is December 15, 2005. Your job is to opperate an underpowered northbound fuel train from Seward to Anchorage. The ouside tempurature is -45 degrees F so its safe to say the tracks are slick. Keep that in mind when battling the steep grades of the Keni mountains.

Required Addons: Alaska Railroad: Seward to Anchorage
Difficulty: 5/5
Time: 70 minutes

Enjoyed this scenario. I copied p_lunceford's idea of nicking the other two locos at Seward and put one on the back as a banker and the other behind my first loco. At Crown Point however I noticed a (presumably) Seward bound train so I stopped and attached the 2nd and 3rd locos on my train to the back of that train before I continued my journey. Hopefully no one missed them! Arguably it wasn't in the spirit of the scenario but it was good fun.

hello idaho i don't know!

After reading the other comments, I noticed that the majority went basically "all in", but as you said earlier, the train was underpowered, so I went with a little strategy. Between MP 6 and MP 7, near Woodrow, I dropped half of my consist off on level track and took the rest of the consist with me to Divide, which was about 4-5 miles ahead of me. After that, I decoupled the first half, went backwards on the siding at 15 MPH, and coupled to the second half that was still at those two mileposts; then I dropped off the second half of my train at the siding, reattached both halves, and continued onward toward my destination at Moose Pass. All-in-all, a very challenging scenario that as you said, is rated 5/5. Well done!

Sorry could not even get over the first hill train badly under powered

The train is underpowered. Why not put 2 bicycles in the front instead of the 2 locos? Ridiculous !!!

Thanks. Great work. Worked well. I think that I used a lot of sand. Very good challenge. This route is fast becoming one of my favourites.

I only THOUGHT it was impossible. It's not a problem at all once you grab the two SD70MACs from the train sitting on Seward Track 5.

Well, I decided to give it another try and this time I actually reached Moose Pass. However, I had to stick to this '17 cars per engine' layout and as 2 x 17 = 34 (and not 39!!) I dropped off the last 5 cars when the train started decelerating rapidly on the 2,2% incline. That made the difference between failing and succeeding.
Furthermore it seems to me that this train has a weight issue. Even at 0% stretches and 87% throttle (which is the usual cruise speed for conventional diesels) there's hardly any acceleration. And breaking power is horrible as well.

For me this was the ultimate 'mission impossible', I'm afraid ...
