After reading the other comments, I noticed that the majority went basically "all in", but as you said earlier, the train was underpowered, so I went with a little strategy. Between MP 6 and MP 7, near Woodrow, I dropped half of my consist off on level track and took the rest of the consist with me to Divide, which was about 4-5 miles ahead of me. After that, I decoupled the first half, went backwards on the siding at 15 MPH, and coupled to the second half that was still at those two mileposts; then I dropped off the second half of my train at the siding, reattached both halves, and continued onward toward my destination at Moose Pass. All-in-all, a very challenging scenario that as you said, is rated 5/5. Well done!
Furthermore it seems to me that this train has a weight issue. Even at 0% stretches and 87% throttle (which is the usual cruise speed for conventional diesels) there's hardly any acceleration. And breaking power is horrible as well.
