Blackjacket Drone Mk-1

Description
Standard heavy attack drone of the Royal Canadian Star-Fleet. With the development of the W-302, the RCSF realized that its old vessels and tactics had been rendered obsolete. After a complete overhaul, the fleet was reorganized around a new class of vessels; support carriers. Unarmed and unarmored, support carriers are extremely cost effective when employed properly, but are entirely reliant on their missiles and drones for defense. Testing and simulations found that a sufficiently numerous or powerful enemy could survive their missile salvos, and in such a case, Hornet drones would often not be sufficient to finish them off. A new type of drone was needed; one powerful enough to engage and destroy enemy capital ships, and perhaps more importantly, sturdy enough to get within range of them in the first place. The result was the Blackjacket Mk-1. Massive, sluggish, and incredibly short ranged by the standards of its predecesors, it was nonetheless exactly what the RCSF needed at the time; rugged, reliable, and heavily armed and armored. Equiped with a turreted 60mm cannon, 5 short range nuclear missiles, and armor comparable to a light capital ship, the Blackjaket is one of the longest serving and most popular pieces of harbware in the RCSF arsenal, having outlived most of its initial launch platforms as well as several of their successors, and remaining in limited service service even after the introduction of the MHAD series of drones.
