Starship Columbia X-2 (Damaged)

Columbia was built alongside Enterprise, however she was differentiated by her sister by a new Deflector dish, and was thus labeled a "Backup" ship, in case Enterprise was delayed or destroyed during her exploration. This allowed her to escape the Vulcans demands of one of their officers being posted aboard. Columbia launched three weeks after Enterprise, however, and began her own exploration mission. Two months in however, she was attacked by unknown ships (later to be revealed as Klingon strike fighters) while on her way to rendezvous with Enterprise. Badly damaged, she was tracked down by Enterprise, whose chief engineer also averted a core breach on Columbia. After a week and a half, both crews repaired her to a state in which Columbia could return to Earth, even with the thought that the mission would end after such an attack. Enterprise escorted her, and within a week they returned to Earth. However, the mission was not cancelled, however both ships recieved upgrades that enhanced their survivability in space.
