Era - 1990s - ECW

Mr. Monday Night, the Whole F'n Show, or just plain RVD, Rob Van Dam was one of the most important wrestlers in the history of Extreme Championship Wrestling. Trained by the Original Sheik and having spent a short stint in WCW, Van Dam became a central figure in ECW, forming a rivalry and team with fellow Sheik acolyte Sabu. The two would win tag team gold, under the tutilage of manager Bill Alfonso, but Van Dam's most significant belt was the ECW TV title, which he held from April of 1998 through January of 2000, only losing the belt when he had to vacate due to injury.

RVD may not have won the ECW World Heavyweight title, but he was seen as a true main event talent even so, having invaded Monday Night Raw at one point and having mesmerized crowds with his breathtaking agility, top notch athleticism and unorthodox kicks.
