Description
The only fighter-class vessel employed by the notorious Turanic Raiders, the "Bandit" interceptor was involved in the first conflict of the Homeworld War. Unbeknownst to the Kushan exiles (who had long since forgotten their history), the Taiidan had given the Raiders orders to destroy any vessel attempting to leave the Kharak system. The Homeworld War began when the unarmed Kushan support vessel Khar-Selim, which had been sent to the outskirts of the Kharak system on conventional drives to assist with final hyperspace testing for the Mothership, was attacked and swiftly destroyed by these fighters.

Like most Raider vessels, the Bandit is crude, but effective. It is a low-maintenence design, well-armored for a fighter and sporting an impressive operational range due to its extremely high fuel capacity. Fortunately for the Kushan, by interceptor standards, the Bandit is slow and lumbering. Though Bandit interceptors had made short work of the defenseless Khar-Selim, the enormous Mothership - fielding both the "Arrow" class scout and the newly-developed "Blade" interceptor - proved too much for a Raider carrier to deal with on its own. forcing a retreat. The Bandit interceptor was encountered by the Kushan a few more times during the Homeworld War, though as their fleet grew, it became less and less of a threat.

This fighter was still in use by the Turanic Raiders during the Beast War, but by this time it was badly outclassed by the powerful new Somtaaw "Acolyte" fighter.

//

This build of the Turanic Raider "Bandit" interceptor is based on its appearance in Homeworld. It is exactly 200 blocks. The crude raider paint job wasn't something I could really do justice in only 200 blocks, so I kind of just... did what I could.

Screenshots (besides the auto-generated preview image) show fighters at true scale - when you use this blueprint to produce fighters, that's the level of detail you can expect from the final product.

This ship is intended for use as a fighter blueprint, as it lacks the critical ship components necessary for player control.

Thank you! I've got more planned. The Somtaaw Acolyte is near the top of my to-do list.
