kkStB 6 / SB 106

This mod adds the series 6 of the Imperial Royal Austrian State Railways (kkStB) and the series 106 of the Austrian Southern Railway.

In 1894 Karl Gölsdorf designed the powerful series 6, since the used express locomotives were too weak caused by increasing train weights.
It was thus the first Austrian express train locomotive series with compound engine. This made it far superior to its predecessors and a resounding success. With her, the travel time between Vienna and Prague could be reduced from twelve to eight hours.
The machines were mainly used in the lowlands. Of course, they also covered the luxury trains of the time such as the Orient Express, the Ostend Express and the spa trains to Karlovy Vary.

Although the kkStB were very satisfied with the series 6, they decided to make small improvements.
The resulting series 106 had, among other things, an enlarged 3.0 m² grate area. This was better suited for the Austrian coal with low calorific value.
At the same time as the kkStB, the Südbahn purchased 27 of the 106 series.
These machines differed in detail from the kkStB variants, i.a. due to the changed position of the lanterns as well as other valves on the boiler.
