Kenton County Fairgrounds

Description
Kenton Fairgrounds is a fictional figure 8 track originally created by freew67 for rFactor. I've converted and updated it for rFactor 2. An all new track surface and texture was created by Machine.

This is a great fun track for multiplayer races or even drifting practice. I recommend turning flag rules off and invulnerability turned on. Also experiment with turning up the race time scale for day and night transitions.

Version 1.1 Update:
- Updated materials/shaders.
- Added track lighting for night racing.
- Added RealRoad presets.
- Many other updates.

Thank you so much for your suggestions, comments and positive feedback. Enjoy!

Glad to see a figure 8 in a game outside of wreckfest. Ty.
Does anyone make an outlaw figure 8 mod? Also a speedrome mod would be fantastic. Idk where else to leave this comment lol

For the side with the start/finish line I recommend a somewhat wider strip of bales so someone can't just drive straight through the grass at speed to complete a qual lap or the final lap of a race. Either that or move the line around the corner somewhat to mitigate one's ability to "cheat" like that.

I did not know about your "kentonhay" version. When I did the conversion I extended the timing lines/gates so they go from the center of the turns all the way to the outside wall. Pit entrance and exit line extend from the tirewall to the outside wall as well. I think I might put a haybale in the center as a reference in the next update. Thanks for the suggestion!

You should consider putting in barriers to prevent course-cutting (especially in qualifying or the final lap where it can be egregious), like the haybales I had added to the original rFactor version in my "kentonhay" modification for league races. They also can ensure that when you go onto the grass by means of contact, you know for certain you're going to hit the timing lines as the haybale would extend right to where the edge of the timing line is, so as long as you go around that you'll be scored OK.

I experimented with lighting but didn't like the results with flickering of the light cast onto some of the textures. I'll look into adding that and updating the track to the latest standards down the road. I appreciate the feedback, it's great to hear you enjoy the track!

Love the mod. My only gripes is that at night, it (in reality) would be plausible to have flood lighting for such venue. Again, I had fun with this track especially with go-karts
