[Fighter Blueprint] MEC VF-1B 'Xanthoptera' Miner

When the Muthos Engineering Consortium was first approached with a request for a dedicated small mining craft, several exotic and expensive new designs were considered. Plans to build a new chassis had almost reached the initial production stage when one extraordinarily bold engineer asked why we couldn't just strap a big ol' cutting laser onto the bottom of the VF-1 'Simillima.' Sure enough, that's what we did.

The VF-1B 'Xanthoptera' is basically just a VF-1 with the aforementioned cutting laser strapped to its belly. Only a few minor modifications were needed to be made to the design to accomodate the large device. The forward guns of the VF-1 were removed, the wings were broadened, and the comms antennae were relocated to make room for the forward laser emitter. Sporting most of the maneuverability and versatility that had made the VF-1 heavy fighter successful, the VF-1B is now in full production as a product of choice for carrier-based mining and heavy salvage operations.

Our lawyers would like us to note that despite its power, the cutting laser mounted on the VF-1B was not designed as a weapon, and to use it as a weapon both a) voids our limited warranty and b) is awesome.

The VF-1B 'Xanthoptera' is 200 blocks. I decided to make it as I noticed I was lacking a themed salvage/mining fighter for the Vespa-class carrier. Attempting to stay true to the nomenclature scheme for this series of builds, the ship's class name refers to a subspecies of Vespa simillima.

Screenshots (besides the auto-generated preview image) show fighters at true scale - when you use this blueprint to produce fighters, that's the level of detail you can expect from the final product.

This ship is intended for use as a fighter blueprint, as it lacks the critical ship components necessary for player control.
