[Fighter Blueprint] Split Asp M4+ [X3]

Even by the extremely high standards that the Split Dynasty has for its fighter designs, the Asp stands out. A lethal combination of speed and forward firepower makes it one of the deadliest interceptors in Commonwealth space, offering M3-like performance at a fraction of the cost. Packing powerful engines and being one of only a handful of M4 size ships capable of mounting the Pulsed Beam Emitter, the Asp strikes hard and fast against other fighters. It wins most engagements with M5 or M4 class vessels handily.

For larger prey, the Asp is capable of mounting the Split-designed Thunderbolt heat-seeking missile. These missiles give it the punch it needs to challenge M3s, though it must be wary of taking hits from them. Though the Asp is well shielded by Split standards, it cannot withstand the withering fire of even an average M3 for long. Split pilots use the Asp's speed to stay out of their target's sights and then to get in close for a kill in order to prevail in these engagements.

This build of the Split Asp is based on its appearance in X3:TC. It is exactly 200 blocks. It was a bit of a messy build process, and I found myself often having to clip blocks to get the shapes I wanted without having to use a thousand blocks. Because the ship has some green accents, I decided to use naonite and see what happened, and I got lucky when the game put the naonite green stripe texture in roughly the right place when I shrunk it down. I'm satisfied with the level of detail, and I feel that it's recognizably "Split" as a result of the somewhat mismatched, jagged faces.

Screenshots (besides the auto-generated preview image) show fighters at true scale - when you use this blueprint to produce fighters, that's the level of detail you can expect from the final product.

This ship is intended for use as a fighter blueprint, as it lacks the critical ship components necessary for player control.
