Back in the West Country again, and now we are in Devon!! Welcome to the Village of Bartingham in one of the many vallies of Devon. Bartingham is situated in a pleasent location between the towns of Crediton and Chulmleigh on the road between Exeter and Barnstaple. There are many villages around there but this is one of them, with a population of 900 people, Bartingham is a qunitessential Devon Village.

Features of this lovely Devon Village:
Parish church of St Michael and All Angels - This is the medieval church of the village. With it's Wagon Roof that is typical of churches in Devon and Cornwall, and it's plastered interior, it has many other features such as a beautiful Rood Screen that is also typical of Devon Churches. There is a small Pipe Organ by Hele and Co of Plymouth that plays 2 hymns, and there is a ring of 6 bells cast by John Warner and Sons that can be rung out across the village.
The Stone Pagoda - This was built by a local landowner in memory of his son who had died while fighting in Eastern Asia. This unique feature of the village is what draws people in to visit this place.
The Railway Station - On the Tarka Line, named after Tarka the Otter (which we are pretty much in Tarka the Otter country around here), on the line between Exeter and Barnstaple. There is a Class 150 DMU waiting to go north towards Barnstaple. There is a house that can be lived in which was once the stationmaster's house. If you like trains, this house is for you.
