Description
Welcome to this lecture and workshop series, co-hosted by the College of Alchemical Engineering together with the Department of History here at the Imperial University. Throughout these lectures, we be tracing the history behind the high-temperature synthetic flame, commonly dubbed "Dragon's Breath". As we study each key breakthrough in the development process, from the discovery of triplex bonds to the eventual synthesis of the dragon's fire, attendees will get to experience it for themselves in the hands-on workshop sessions. Later on, we will also cover applications of this technology, including safe handling measures and common use cases. But let's not get too far ahead of ourselves...

DragonsBreath 01: A Lick of Fire

... and of course, it was not long after the discovery of the triplex bond that the field of synthetic flame research was born. Early experiments quickly showed that, under the same controlled conditions, and at the same rate of fire element output, triple...
DragonsBreath 02: From Theory to Practice
Created by cake>pie
... at that time, theorists believed that the volatility of the triplex bond could be increased by leaving the bonds partly incomplete. However, while it was clearly possible to do so within the confines of a transmutation engine, only completed bonds coul...
DragonsBreath 03: Modulated Jet

... so the experimentalists chose to focus their attention on what was possible with the existing technology. Originally, the most common approach to increasing flame intensity was to use a battery of multiple streams of fire to increase the output rate. S...
DragonsBreath 04: Tongues of Flame

... in their experiments, they found that streams that had loose ends in their bond structure generally produced a greater intensity than other streams of equal rate. This was a hugely unexpected result. Before them, no one had even considered this to be e...
DragonsBreath 05: Synthetic Dragon's Fire

... it was clear that the next goal was to develop a bond structure that combines as many of the known intensity enhancing features as possible, but the execution was not so straightforward. Several candidate designs were put forth, but a key hurdle had to...
