Description
Era - 1990s / 2010s - Boxing - Middleweight

Arguably the finest athlete in the history of pro boxing, Roy Jones Jr. was described to have blended an unfair mix of Lightweight speed with Heavyweight power. His deadly left hook and almost supernatural reflexes would give him one sided victories from Super Middleweight up to Light Heavyweight to Cruiserweight. Jones would toy with his opponents, often dropping his hands and swaying against the ropes, dodging in and out and then unleashing a torrent of fistic explosives on the unsuspecting foe.

Jones may have been at his best in the intermediate weights, with only one absurd loss by disqualification in his first fifty fights but one of his greatest accomplishments was to rise up to Heavyweight and defeat the current champ at the time, John Ruiz, who had gained his title from the great Evander Holyfield. Over twelve rounds, Jones worked Ruiz over to gain a unanimous decision for the Heavyweight title.
