[COOP 1-4] Helo Transport on Khe Sanh

Description
This is a random helo transport mission on Khe Sanh for the Unsung Vietnam war mod. It has been tested on dedicated server and utilizes a headless client, if present. Due to the number of AI usage of a headless client is strongly recommended.

1-4 pilots and co-pilots can join and get randomized transport missions. Pick one of five available transport helicopters at Khe Sanh Combat Base and complete five missions. Players can either choose to man a single helicopter or fly a helicopter each or use one of the combat helicopters or planes at the main Khe Sanh Combat Base runway. For example, one player may fly a transport chopper, while another player can fly a gunship for fire support in case of a hot LZ.

There is however only light enemy opposition present in the area currently.

@Waffle, open the PBO and check the init.sqf file, almost everything is contained within there. It uses a set of pre-defined invisible and visible helopads and depending on mission type selects randomly one of them. You can also either join the Nimitz or Unsung discord and we can chat about the mission there. Good luck with your project.

how did you do this with all of the randomization stuff if you dont mind me asking? i wanna do something like this for a larger group different map and some more things but have no idea how.

I also prefer the old school method. It adds to the immersion factor. I still have some of my old aviation maps from flight school.

For me, the flares are easily visible. Then I fly by the seat of my pants. Fly too high is probably the reason for the difficulty in seeing the flares......

Thanks for the feedback, OleGreyGhost! If you like more of a modern approach to the mission, you can shift-click on the markers in map view and get an icon in the 3d view for this custom waypoint. I prefer the old school approach though :D
Also the troops on the ground should shoot a flare up, but it's hardly visible. Not sure how to solve this, maybe using a different color than white?

The 47 is working fine. Completed 1/2 a dozen tasks. No problems.

This is # 2 on the hit parade.....

I am happy to report that today I was able to complete a couple of tasks w/o any problems.

Don't know what caused the problem with the 47 yesterday. I took the huey.

Still have the hand drawn map task markers. Used the map to co-ordinate the flight path to the landing zones. Purple smoke marks the area. Fly too high & you don't see squat.

Completed both troop drops successfully. Khe Sanh village & Hill 854.

This is more like WWI combat aviation. This appears to be a fly by the seat of your pants type of mission. A lot more technical & fun.

FYI:
I am running an older I7-6700 CPU @ 4.00GHz w/ 32 GB memory & an nVidia GTX 1070 vid card w/ 8GB memory under win 10. ( steam will not display FPS with arma )

I hosted it locally as coop/sp. It ran smoothly w/o any lag or hiccups. Air traffic was also smooth.
Didn't have any glitches with the AI.

Going to take out the 47 now. Hope you put in some heavy ( howitzer ) lifting.

Will let you know how I make out.......

No idea, really. I've never encountered such a problem. Maybe try to change the view distance setting when on foot, though.

Sorry for the very late answer. But i've found a trick. If i get into a helo everything is back, buildings, etc are visible but only if i am in a vehicle. Do you know know maybe what the issue is?

Sounds strange, the mission doesn't touch any buildings. You sure your mod is correct? Maybe try a repair/redownload on the server.
