[Fighter Blueprint] Hiigaran Interceptor [Homeworld 2]

A hundred years after the time of the Kushan "Blade" Interceptor, the modern Hiigaran Interceptor is a worthy successor. It is usually deployed in squadrons of five. Though only lightly armored, the craft's speed and rotary cannon armamant make it a massive threat for other fighter-class vessels. Advances in engine technology since the Homeworld War have allowed for self-sustaining fusion drives compact enough to be used by fighters, eliminating refuelling requirements and giving the Interceptor a far greater operational range than its predecessor.

Tactically, Interceptors serve in several important roles for the Hiigaran Navy. They are often sent to hunt enemy scouts, denying the enemy valuable real-time intelligence in contested space by either killing them or forcing a retreat. They are also deployed as dedicated anti-fighter escorts for wings of Hiigaran Bombers and groups of capital ships. During the war against the Vaygr warlord Makaan, Hiigaran Interceptors were slightly slower than the Vaygr Assault Craft that often outnumbered them, but were significantly better armored, roughly evening the odds in their frequent head-to-head matchups.

This build of the Hiigaran Interceptor is based on its appearance in Homeworld 2. Maffin on the Avorion forums already did a good build of the Hiigaran Interceptor back in April, but unfortunately, it's 300+ blocks, and so it can't actually be used as a fighter blueprint. I decided to use it as a color reference and build a more compact Interceptor from scratch. This build uses the exact same colors as Maffin's original (in case you would like to use it alongside his other excellent Hiigaran ship builds), but is only 200 blocks. I felt like only minimal amounts of detail were lost in the process, and I even had enough blocks left over to model the rotary cannon on the underside.

Screenshots (besides the auto-generated preview image) show fighters at true scale - when you use this blueprint to produce fighters, that's the level of detail you can expect from the final product.

This ship is intended for use as a fighter blueprint, as it lacks the critical ship components necessary for player control.
