(DISCONTINUED) Drip irrigation farming - 39.67.5

Description

This mod is not working anymore. Read below.

Welp, in 40.31 they changed both the plants and barrels objects so they fall in line with the rest of in-game items, which is good in itself, but it now means that this mod needs a decent update to make it work again. I dont have the knowledge or enthusiasm (stopped playing a year ago or so) to learn whats needed so Im afraid this is it.

Since its not working at all and its interfering with farming, to avoid more grief Im updating the mod to remove everything as if the mod was not installed. This way I can still keep this page up for people to know what happened, and maybe someone sees this and wants to continue where I left.

Any modders out there, feel free to take the code and make a working version. No permission needed. The direct download link is here: https://goo.gl/ezmQYN It includes new pipe textures by Lord Hobotok that I never got around to incorporate.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Introduces a new item, Irrigation pipes, that allows you to lay garden hoses over your crops.
If you place them next to a Water barrel or piped water source (faucets, baths, toilets... but not wells, lakes or rivers) it will periodically irrigate your farm every ingame hour to maintain its current water level.
If you cant find irrigation pipes, you can craft them from any kind of pipe (or hoses if you use Hydrocraft instead of this mod).

Hydrocraft already includes this updated mod. Dont use both.

For more details from the original mod autor:
https://theindiestone.com/forums/index.php?/topic/4763-0501-build-2326-sp-mp-drip-irrigation-farming/

Now this mod also includes Russian and Spanish translations. Thanks to Lord Hobotok for suggesting to add them, the help in doing so, and the Russian translation.
Contact me if you want to add your own language.

Im not the mod creator, I just fixed some of the problems that appeared when using the original mod with the current version of the game:
  • Fixes water containers never filling to 100%. This also made them keep showing up on the refill list.
  • Added back drinking and refilling sounds.
  • Dirty water mechanic when drinking
  • Various small fixes.

* Barrel fertilizing is not working 100% so dont rely on it. If anyone is savy enough to fix it, feel free to improve upon this mod and make a new one.

I stopped actively testing this anymore since it seems to be working mostly fine, but Im sure there may still be some (hopefully minor) glitches. Im not really a Project Zomboid modder so my knowledge here is limited, but report any errors you find and I ll check if its easily fixable.

Hi, I took the code for the Irrigation mod and after some tinkering got it working for project zomboid v40.43. I sent you a friend request so we could maybe talk about getting it onto this workshop page

This mod was legendary. If irrigation doesn't get added to the base game, I'll try to take a look at updating this mod. No promises. But damn do I miss this mod...

Would love for someone to fix this lost gem

Im a software dev but I would need time to familiarize and learn the basics for this game, and honestly I have zero will on putting the hours needed.
You are welcome to try and fix it though, it would be an... enlightening experience :cozybethesda:.

Ah gotcha they have colleges for coding if you would like too

No, I know almost nothing of modding in this game. What I did was some basic text updating and code rearranging, but I never went any deeper.
