This fatal fungus has changed appearance many times throughout the Mario series, commonly appearing with a purple cap. However, it has also been seen with the cap depicted above, which is only a shade darker than that of the Super Mushroom, making it harder to tell whether touching it would be your salvation, or your doom. Its toxic taste will definitely alert you to its deadliness, but by then it will be too late.
