No Turrets!

Description
Why do I want to remove the turrets?
1. I want to make user ship designing free.
2. I want to make modders feel free of designing no-turret weapon slots.

However, it turned out that I will have to remove turrets entirely, or there will be three critical issues with your ship modules.
1. Sometimes there are unused turret mounts.
2. Sometimes there is a turret on a wrong-sized mount.
3. Sometimes there are multiple turrets overlapped on a same mount.

But if I just remove turrets, your ship modules will still look ugly because there are tons of unused turret mounts on your module. My solution in the past was that ship section modules already have decorative turrets attached on them so they will at least look not bad, but I couldn't help myself to notice that there are as many large turrets as L-slots with the section.

I know that these are all OCD issues, but I couldn't help myself to research about it, because I just WANT TO remove them in the first place.
1. Some weapons like missile launchers aren't required to be mounted in turrets, there can be VLS.
2. There shall be fire points to cover every directions of a spaceship, I mean, there shall be fire points on the bottom too, therefore top-only turrets are unreasonable.
3. Being forced to make room for the turret mounts, the playable ship styles usually look unnatural and ugly comparing with other unplayable ship styles like Fallen Empire ones. I guess many players don't like turrets for this reason.
4. Sometimes the turrets are way too big to the tiny ship hull, especially those on corvettes.

Then I get stucked for more than 48 hours because google provided nothing helpful. Luckly with Nessa's kindful help, I have managed to edit the mesh myself, therefore I decided to release them in return of the community.

Features
  • For all playable vanilla ship styles:
    • Removed all turrets.
    • Removed turret mounts from all section modules if possible. See the list below for unchanged section modules.
  • Slot indicator while designing ships is removed.

The following modules remain unchanged:
  • Avien and Lithoid ship modules remain unchanged, because their turret mounts are sunken in the module and are not able to be removed with simply deleting parts from the modules. Their turrets are still removed.
  • Fungoid ship modules except for corvettes, battleships and titans remain unchanged for the same reason.
  • With turret mounts removed some sections may not look very good as their decks look empty and void. The following sections will look extremely ugly or having issue if their turret mounts get removed, therefore remain unchanged: arthropod cruiser bow L1, humanoid corvette M1S1, plantoid destroyer bow L1, plantoid battleship bow L2 & M2S4, fungoid battleship bow L2, and fungoid battleship mid L3.

Compatibility
The following files were overwritten.
  • For all playable vanilla ship styles:
    • Ship section .mesh files of corvettes, destroyers, cruisers, battleships, and titans except for avien and lithoid ones. Deprecared section modules are modified as well.
    • Military station section .mesh files except for avien, lithoid and fungoid ones.
  • The following textures were overwritten because without retexturing some parts look wierd.
    • gfx/models/ships/mammalian_01/mammalian_01_cruiser_diffuse.dds
    • gfx/models/ships/plantoid_01/plantoid_01_corvette_diffuse.dds
    • gfx/models/ships/plantoid_01/plantoid_01_destroyer_diffuse.dds
    • gfx/models/ships/plantoid_01/plantoid_01_cruiser_diffuse.dds
  • gfx/interface/ship_designer/ship_designer_slot_indicator.dds, in order to hide the slot indicator while designing.

Will continue to update to support future ship styles.

Vanilla ship module mods will likely to be compatible, as long as they are not changing .mesh files or retexturing plantoid ships.

If you use this mod together with NSC, SCX, or something else that will likely to use deprecaded battleship sections, be sure to enable this mod later than those, or the turret mounts on humanoid battleship sections will appear.

Don't enable this mod along with "Deprecated Humanoid Sections", because this mod already has full support for deprecated sections, but do not give you access to them.

Done without changing anything in the common folder, this mod is luckily ironman compatible.

Special Thanks
- Steam User: TheGrandN, for her mesh editing tutorial. (Also known as Nessa, from Team Nessassity, be sure to check her amazing original ship styles.)
- Chrome Plug-in: Jorodox tools, without this editing paradoxian mesh is physically impossible.
