Matchlock Navy

Description
"Why are the only matchlock naval units the Siege Tower Bune and the Matchlock Kobaya?"
A question that has never been answered... til now....

Beholding.... The Matchlock Navy mod!

Containing the following units:

Medium Matchlock Bune
These ships are good all-rounders: dependable sailors, matchlock-armed marines, and strong enough to go into battle without sacrificing too much battle speed.

Recruitable from any Lv3 Port once a Lv2 Powder Maker is built in the same province
and once Gunpowder Mastery is researched.
Unit Cap Limit of 8.

Heavy Matchlock Bune
Heavy Bunes are the mainstay of a fleet, however these Heavy Bunes have been equipped with matchlocks instead of bows, making them more deadly.

Recruitable from any Lv4 Port once a Lv3 Gunsmith is built in the same province
and once Naval Expertise is researched.
Unit Cap Limit of 6.

O Ataka Matchlock Bune
These ships are one of the pinnacles of Sengoku naval technology. Few ships can go into combat against the O Ataka Matchlock Bune and claim victory.

Recruitable from any Lv4 Port once a Lv3 Gunsmith is built in the same province
and once Mastery of the Waves is researched.
Unit Cap Limit of 4.

Important Notes
- Mori and Otomo versions of these ships exist, which have extra accuracy and melee strength, as well as an increased unit cap limit by 2.
- The Otomo Matchlock Kobaya also contains 45 men instead of the regular 35, and their version of the other ships have 10 extra matchlock marines in exchange for having 10 less seamen.
- Mori Matchlock Ships contain a deadly buff to the melee stats of their crew, meaning that boarding them without weakening them first is practically a death sentence.
- Do note, that units will more than likely defeat their bow-equipped sister units in battle. Especially if they are Mori or Otomo versions. As displayed in the battle pictures above. Otomo Matchlocks vs Tokugawa Bows.
- This mod should be compatiable with most other mods.
- Battle results were tested with only this mod active, in the Sea of Japan map, on medium difficulty.
- Please use the discussion board for bug reports.

Thanks to Swiss Halberdier for letting me use AUM-SHO as a base for this mod (it contains one ability from said mod, but nothing more).

ty @TR3, also can the AI recruit these units as well?
TR3 1 Jun, 2023 @ 8:35am
Vlad Draculea@_ Probably yes. Because, only the navy units on the ship are changing, not the war ships. It's not a guarantee though, of course. 🙂👍

I understand the difficulty, because it is hard to add siege engine to ships. Could you consider make ships with crew that use rocket and hand mortar? That way it is easier because you are only changing the hand-hold weapon and projectile of the crow members. This way we can have artillery in navy battle in some degree.:steamhappy::steamhappy:
