I play lone wolf and have done this part multiple time. I always teliport him away then fly to him and fight while teliporting him further out then have to spend my time healing him and blessing water to keep him alive. Drives me nuts.

Oh, yes, this is needed. I had to physically block the ladder and ramps with my party the first time through. Tower defense in a burning oil field is fun, but only for so long.

I found this right before I got to this fight. It helped tremendously. I left my people near the open gate and sent Loshe in and she teleported him back toward the gate. Then the blobs attacked and I was able to use my team to ignite all the oil. Then when the first wave was destroyed and the next wave attacked I kept sending in summons with water and electric. Loshe was also able to keep the waves of hail and ice coming and we defeated them with almost no injury.
