Era - 1970s /1980s - WWWF / NWA / AWA

Wildly popular in Madison Square Garden, and a unifying figure for the WWWF's Puerto Rican audience, Pedro Morales was a top notch champion. The first WWF Triple Crown champion, Morales was seen as a chivalrous competitor with a fiery side, able to work holds or trade hard punches with equal skill. He defeated the imposing Ivan Koloff to win the WWWF title in 1971, losing it in late 1973 to Stan Stasiak before leaving the WWWF.

Morales had a solid run in multiple organizations before returning to the now-WWF in 1980, winning the WWF Tag titles with Bob Backlund, and holding the Intercontinental title multiple times.
