STORM's are the deterrant against, and means to destroy, capital vessels. They cripple Carriers, blow apart Battleships, and all for a cost far lower than that of a ship with similar capabilities to their targets. The basic STORM is a cluster missile designed to carry 24 Warheads internally. Once triggered manually by its operator, the STORM will eject the external covers with protective decoys to interfere with defensive fire. This clears the way for its warheads to then scatter in the short time before the STORM itself hits its target.

Capable of being launched from planetside silos, as the name implies, a Dual-Stage STORM can reach orbit and seek out vessels or stations that dare venture into your skies under laser-based Remote Control, inflicting tremendous damage with its cluster-warhead spread over a broad area to ensnare even moving targets.

STORM's can also be simply mounted to the side of your ship, or launched from internal bays, through the use of its many external hardpoints. Launching is as simple as pairing the Laser Antenna to those on your ship or base and activating the "Launch Missile" timer. Once it has detached, the missile will automatically reconnect its laser link and you can take remote control of the missile to guide it to its target.

"Midnight" Stealth Variant
Woah there friend, you're asking for the hard stuff now. Come here. Quietly, don't let them see you, and if anyone asks you damn-well say this fell off the back of the freighter.

The Midnight STORM variant is coated with a refractive surface, making it nigh-invisible to onlookers from beyond sever hundred metres. And by the time it's spotted, it's already far, far too late. They'll never figure out where it came from, or what happened, only that their mothership is now very, very dead.

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Mount a STORM to your ship/base/floating derelict.

2. Pair the laser antenna with those on your base or ship. These will be necessary to control the STORM.

3. Once the laser-lock is established, and the missile is fueled, trigger the Launch Missile Timer. The missile will accelerate away, briefly breaking the laser link, before re-establishing it (so long as you don't move your own mothership).

4. Take remote control of the missile and start flying it towards what you want to Go Away.

5. Once you reach about 2-1.5km from the target, press Button 9 in the Hotbar. The laser link will now automatically deactivate.

6. The STORM will now start spinning, using centrifugal force to release its Decoy Panels and Warheads in stages before finally impacting the target.

7. Go to Step 1 if need be, otherwise send a salvage crew.

DUAL-STAGE VERSION
The Dual-Stage versions operate slightly differently;

1. Trigger the Launch Booster timer.

2. Once the fuel is expending in the Booster (which will be when the HUD meter reads 50%), trigger the Detach Booster timer. This will release the expended unit, and engage the missile's internal engines. Operate as normal from here.

PLANETARY TARGETS
STORM's can be deployed against surface installations as easily as any space or airborne target, however be aware that gravity is a factor. For best effect, make sure the STORM is aimed vertically at the ground rather than at an angle. Otherwise the bomblets can scatter badly.
