[Fighter Blueprint] Boron Octopus M5 [X3]

Developed to be the Boron Kingdom's counterpart to the Argon Federation's Discoverer, the Octopus is a nimble scout fighter that was unmatched in its class when it first saw service. Unfortunately, the years have not been kind to the Octopus. Perhaps in part due to the passive, peaceful nature of the Boron, it has not been kept updated to modern combat standards.

With its weapon choice limited to the weak Impulse Ray Emitter and with poor access to missiles, the Octopus is outmatched in combat by most other modern M5-class vessels, to say nothing of larger fighters. Even amongst the Boron, it is largely considered obsolete, though its speed - the one thing it still has going for it - has kept it in active service as a scouting vessel. It remains to be seen if mounting tensions beteen the Boron and Split will finally provide the impetus for the Boron to replace this once legendary fighter, or to consider updating it to be more competitive with modern M5 designs.

This build of the Boron Octopus is based on its appearance in X3:TC. It is exactly 200 blocks. I knew this was going to be a challenge, but I really wanted to do at least one Boron fighter, just for the sake of having something to offer for each major X race. This build took a few tries. Certain shapes (i.e. the angles on the wings) had to be simplified a bit in order to get it under the block limit. I'm at least happy enough with it that I'm ready to release it.

Screenshots (besides the auto-generated preview image) show fighters at true scale - when you use this blueprint to produce fighters, that's the level of detail you can expect from the final product.

This ship is intended for use as a fighter blueprint, as it lacks the critical ship components necessary for player control.
