The Corporate has had designs for scouts since before the Imperium attacked, but the capability to precicly call in target coordinates has been lacking, and since their was no surface based indirect fire artilary, no effort was made to rectify this. During the war, work began on artilary systems, and thus a target designator was needed, as sacrificing men to aquire a target was not a tactic the Corporate was willing to consider, unlike the Imperium. When another factions military scout vehicle was downed in Corporate territory, and subsequently salvaged, advanced targeting systems were found inside its hull. Corporate engineers wasted little time in bolting the tech into a drone, without making many, if any, changes.
