Scenario: Colonization of The New World

Description
A scenario inspired by the Conquest of The New World in Civ V, which emphasises exploration and expansion over conquest, preservation and protection over plunder and profit.

The map is an internally randomised map script of The New World. It is based on the Azimuthal equidistant projection of Earth (i.e. the map on the UN flag).

Civs:
  • England (Victoria Age of Steam, Victoria Age of Empire, Elizabeth)
  • France (Catherine Black Queen, Catherine Magnificence)
  • Spain
  • America (Teddy Rough Rider, Teddy Bull Moose, Abraham Lincoln)
  • The Aztecs
  • Brazil
  • The Maya
  • Gran Colombia
  • Portugal

Scenario Conditions

175 turns.
Medieval Era start.
Standard game speed.

No Domination, Science, Religious or Culture win. Instead there is a scenario specific victory:

Eco victory: Build 20 Sanctuaries.

Score victory:
  • 100 victory points (VP) for making a national park.
  • 10 VP for every tile of natural environment (unimproved rain forest, forest and marsh) in your empire.
  • 50VP for building a Preserve district.

Time defeat.

Scenario Rules

4 Religions max.

Naturalists can build 2 national parks.

Extra policy: National Monuments at Conservationism which gives +2 Appeal to tiles for cities with a National Park (stacks with Teddy's trait).

La Venta's Colossal Head can be built on rain forest.

Rough Rider can build parks (like Canada's Mountie) but require horse.

Conquistadors can settle cities.

Feitorias grant 500 gold.

Maya's bonus extends 9 tiles from capital instead of 6.

Chateau provides defence.

Conservation inspiration swapped with Combustion eureka.

@Koppington Your suggestion turned out to be a really good idea! :steamhappy:

I've added Amsterdam to the map. (The Dutch in the DELUXE version of this scenario -> https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2355194520) . Polders can now be built on floodplains and marsh as well as on the coast. It's really fun :steamhappy:

@"GLORIA_VINCIT" Maybe a bug. That is just the name "Colonization of The New World". Not game breaking. Thx 4 letting me know. I am actually in the process of updating the maps (and so the scenario too).

@danradz The scenario was developed prior to NFP. But it wasn't balanced. NFP fixed this by introducing civs (for this map) and most importantly the Preserve district.

Without these key NFP DLC only a few of the original civs are really playable.

If you like to play the New World map it is included in the United Nations Map Pack (see link above).
