EC3, formerly known as Ethan Carter III in TNA/Impact and Derrick Bateman during his first WWE run, is currently signed to WWE and will be appearing on the NXT brand.

After a few years in development under the Bateman ring name, EC3 left WWE and landed later that year in TNA, portraying Dixie Carter's nephew, Ethan Carter III. EC3 debuted as a spoiled, entitled heel, but the character eventually evolved into a fan favorite not long after EC3 won the TNA World Heavyweight Championship for the second time. EC3 had a run with the Impact Grand Championship as well before departing the company in January 2018.

Not long after leaving TNA, EC3 made an appearance at NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia, signaling his return to WWE.
