Description
The Capn's back!
================
Apologies to all my subscribers & followers for the deletion of my entire SE workshop a while ago.
You'll be glad to know I'm back in the saddle though, with a whole heap of quality new content for you.
I hope you enjoy it - and please be patient while I get it all published, as it's likely going to take a while.

Welcome to EMGC
===============
EMGC is the Enthusiastic Malleable Goods Condominium, a newly formed subsidiary of SAVTec Industries.
Named in honour of a certain Earth-based Software House, EMGC has but a single goal; to rebuild, rebalance & improve upon the ships of the KSH fleet, making them more practical, useful and fun in-game, while still retaining the original KSH style.

EMGC will eventually comprise 3 ranges of ships; the Respawn & Cargo ships, the Easy Start ships and the Campaign ships.

EMGC / SAVTec Build Mantra
=======================
100% vanilla
Survival, Exploration, Projector and 1st person friendly
Thruster Damage safe
No Scripts, Pistons or Rotors unless otherwise stated
Total ship-wide conveyor integration - always!

Where possible, all EMGC & SAVTec ships feature...
-Standardised air-tight docking rings with cargo transfer
-Pre-configured Button Panels & command station / cockpit hotbars
-Clean control panel with all items named, grouped & hidden where appropriate.
-All control panel items prefixed with the name of the ship for easy identification.
-Cameras forward & aft, docking cameras port & starboard, additional cameras as required.

The K-9 Advanced Military Minelayer
============================
Installment number 9 in the EMGC Cargo Ships series is the Advanced Military Minelayer.

As with the other 2 combat ships in the KSH fleet, this one suffered no illusions about its identity. Unfortunately however, it was just a box full of mines that... well... didn't really do anything.
The hidden thruster traps were cool up until the update where mines stopped exploding when damaged unless they were armed - then the whole idea became kind of obsolete.

The Minelayer needed either to be a proper, true minelayer, capable of actually laying mines... or it needed to be something else entirely.

Owing to the difficulty of building a real mine-laying system within the small space afforded (and still giving it decent armour protection), the resultant K-9 is no longer a minelayer. The upshot of that is the new ship actually has dual purposes.

Although its weapons consist only of Gattling Turrets (no missiles), it's armour is heavy enough to give it good survivability in front-line combat, as long as it's supported by a heavy hitter or dedicated capital-combat ship. In that kind of formation - or in numbers, the K-9 can make an effective fire-support vessel or fighter shield for larger vessels.

In it's other role, the K-9 is a simple armed transport & more than capable of fending off a few light attackers by itself. In this role you could think of it as the space-fairing version of a logistics support truck.

The K-9 crews up to 3 and sports the following simple features...
-Nice thick armour
-Doubled up life-support for redundancy
-Single Large Cargo Container
-Large Reactor
-100% coverage by 8-way heavy point defence

The K-9 is designed to perfectly compliment both the K-8 Advanced Military Escort and the upcoming K-10 Advanced Military Transporter in a battle group, with each ship making up for the shortcomings of the other two.

Coming soon

I'll also be publishing a Mk2 Destroyer version under my EMGC Alternate Cargo Ships brand, so look out for that.

Comments / questions / suggestions / constructive criticism all very welcome.
I've even been known to do the odd request-build from time to time, so if you have an idea, drop me a line. If I like it I may build it.

If you want to have a go at it, be my guest! I'd love to see what you come up with!
Mainly I didn't do one because my designs all involve moving parts & I wanted to keep the collection as simple as possible so that anyone using the ships wouldn't have to worry about Lord Klang paying them a visit... but you're free to create & publish your own versions. If they're cool & they work I'll add them to the Alternate collection.

@Shrimp... It's coming, have no fear! I haven't finished the interior yet & want to get a few more ships ready to go at the same time, so I can release the whole collection in one hit.
Shouldn't be too long though. I'll try not to keep you waiting! :steamhappy:

@Ztatni... it's interesting to see the numbers of hits I'm getting on this series - seems like of the original ships, my personal favourites are the least popular & the ones I hardly use are the most popular. Go figure! Glad you like anyhow! :steamhappy:
How Bout Osmie? 7 Feb, 2018 @ 7:31pm
