Description
(UPDATE: 9/18/2018) This ship is now updated to work properly with Combat Update Pt. II

The MEC's 'Marigold' is a tried and true entry-level design for first-time spaceship captains. Affordable and well-rounded, it can serve in mining, salvaging, and light cargo capacities without being completely defenseless. The 'Marigold' is built using stock components that can be easily and quickly upgraded later on. Steer it clear of heavy combat situations, and it will soon pay for itself!

Pros:

-Maneuverable
-Extremely cheap
-Easily upgraded
-Small crew requirement

Armament:

-4x size 2 primary weapon mounts
-1x size 1.5 secondary weapon mount
-2x size 1 point defense hardpoints

Cons:

-Not well-shielded enough for heavy combat
-Limited cargo space

(Detailed stats and costs can be found in the screenshots)

The MEC 'Marigold' comes equipped with a set of custom turrets - LPD-1 point defense cannons and LCT-1 salvage lasers.

I've been using this ship as my starter vessel on Rusty's Galaxy servers for quite some time now - on the occasions where I actually play the game rather than spending hours and hours building in creative mode. It was influenced by the design of Homeworld's Kushan Resource Controller. If it looks a little boxy and rough around the edges, that's because this was actually only the third ship I ever built in Avorion. I did not originally plan to share it.

I thought, after a quick cleanup of the internals, it may have some value to folks looking for a solid early-game ship, or as a starter vessel for servers that offer a head-start resource package. The 'Marigold' should at least get you as far as Trinium tier, as it has for me time and time again.

This is my favorite starter! I literally had to look for a gem like this.

it would be the best for the credits I have when only I could find out, how and where to add systems, quarters and stuff. And why does it drain 4.2 gigs and produce 2.x gigs. But it looks awesome!

Thanks! I've actually named it "Yellow Submarine" a few times.
