Description
Era - 1970s / 1990s - Boxing - Middleweight

Known as Manos de Piedra, Hands of Stone, Roberto Durán was arguably the greatest lightweight in history, and would move up, and win at Welterweight and Middleweight, demonstrating a degree of greatness rarely rivaled.

A peerless inside fighter, the Panama native brought unbridled aggression and intensity to the ring with him, eradicating lightweights through the seventies, and decided to move up to Welterweight in 1979, eventually defeating Sugar Ray Leonard in 1980. While he would famously quit in the rematch, Duran did not fade away afterwards. He moved up again, this time to Middleweight, winning the title in 1983 and waging war on Marvin Hagler, Wilfred Benitez and Thomas Hearns, before winning the belt again in 1989 against the towering Iran Barkley.
