Weardale and Teesdale 1963

Description
Weardale and Teesdale 1963

This is the Weardale and Teesdale Route Network as it was at the beginning of 1963, just prior to the infamous Beeching Cuts.
Sections of the route had already been dismantled, or had their passenger services withdrawn. The remaining parts of the network were due to be closed, and in the end, only Darlington to Bishop Aukland survived.

What has been done:
- St. John's Chapel to Wearhead track lifted
- Evenwood Jct. to Barnard Castle track lifted
- Track towards Kirkby Stephen lifted
- Bishp Aukland South Curve lifted
- Wear Valley Jct. to St. Johns Chapel converted to freight only state
- Spennymoor branch converted to freight only state
- Eldon Jct. to Haggerleases/Butterknowle converted to freight only state
- Some extra scenery to give relevant areas a more dilapidated look

What is to be done:
- Finish extra scenery to give relevant areas a more dilapidated look
- Some sidings/yards to be removed

Only the Weardale and Teesdale Route Network is required

Just came upon this project. Curious to see if it ever gets to a finished state. I noticed Mr pineapple suggests the Wherry Lines signals would be good here; there are even newer signals as part of a separate signal pack, and those would not be Workshop compatible, but Wherry signals might be good.

Also i think AP's signals from the wherry lines would be good on here

@JJTimothy, I never thought of doing a modern take on the Weardale Railway, but now that you mention it, I may be tempted to have a crack at it in the future

@Mikey, If you go into build in the main menu, and then to the scenario tob. You should find the route there, where you will be able to create a free roam scenario or otherwise

Hi Wobbly Tooth. Yes I spent a long time searching everywhere including drive. Why would it show there if there was no senario? I suggest that it would have been better to be more explcit in your description . I know it states WIP but a comment on usability would have saved a lot of wasted time. Why post it if it cannot be viewed!!

I already find driving trains on lines I never saw IRL somewhat bitter-sweet (I live in County Durham but only since the '80s) so this might be a bit too melancholic for me. Interesting idea though and possibly more accurate than the DLC as it stands which does take some "modellers licence". Any ambition to produce a present day or near future version with the Weardale Railway running trains up to Stanhope and possibly Eastgate?

@Mikey: It won't show up under Standard or Career tabs because there are no scenarios for it (yet). Have you looked under Quick Drive?

I thought this sounded intriguing so downloaded it. It shows in the workshop section but nowhere else! I have the DLC. Any ideas please?
