Description
July 2019: The major problems introduced in the 0.7 game update don't look like they'll ever be fixed, so I'm calling this mod dead, sorry!

**************

March 2019: Waiting on devs to fix position of wooden house blocks so that the paint sticks right to both sides. The new wooden walls/doors/windows are off-center in their block, so the paint looks awful on one side.

Pre-made and custom-sized paint decoration you can apply to walls, timbers, chests, etc.!

Hi all!

This mod brings you a collection of pre-made paints that you can apply to flat surfaces in your world -- walls, timbers, ceilings, chests, you name it!

The mod gives you 7 different pre-made paint sections designed to fit clay-wall building blocks:
Wall; Wall half-timber; Door; Window
Triangle; Triangle half-timber; Triangle top

(*** I plan to design a set for at least the flat stone blocks too -- wall/door/window. ***)

It also gives you two paint "swatches" you can use to paint any flat surface:
5x5 swatch; 1x4 swatch

You have 16 color choices:
Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet, White
Black, Brown, Brick Red, Cream, Lime, Gray, Olive, and Teal

These paints attach using only a tiny 1x1 or 1x2 section of the surface you are painting. This means that you can still attach shelves, timbers, planks, and other decoration to your walls. Even after you've covered them with paint! I've made the intrusion onto the space as minimal as possible.

I've also tried to make painting as simple as possible. When you choose a paint and are trying to align it, it only appears when you have it facing the correct direction, otherwise it is invisible except for a tiny "grab bar" at the top. With just a little practice, you should become a painting expert!

To paint, first you create a "Paint Palette" from your personal inventory, using a number of items in-game as dyes and colorants: berries, herbs, charcoal, clay, copper ore, plus 1 jar of linseed oil as the base.

Once you have a stack of palettes, you can begin painting immediately. Just use the scroll wheel to go through your color choices.

Hope you enjoy!

They're not going to fix the walls. The team has left and mostly gone on to other companies now. If they fix anything, it will at best be game-crashing bugfixes. These wall paints look truly horrible with the new system, and would all need to be recreated and repositioned from scratch to fit right on even one side. Plus all the work of overhauling the code so they behave right. I don't expect to be doing any more on it, I'm sorry to say.

Have they fixed the position of the walls yet? I would really like this mod to be active again!!

If its not, could you reactivate it anyway, just with a warning about how it doesnt center properly?

They changed the position of their wooden walls. The walls don't center in their block space now. So if you apply paint to one side, it looks fine. If you apply it to the other, it looks like garbage. I'm waiting & hoping they will center those blocks right! There's no way I'm going to make multiple versions of the same kinds of wall paint. Nobody would put up with that.

If you look at my Pompeii mod, it comes with a set of Creative-only decorative paints that I used to paint the walls of various house interiors. Some larger panels & some small images. It’s something I really do want to rework into larger, Survival-ready styles. The big issues are getting it to work with rounded walls & to play nicely with window/door frames

@Spock The Builder
I already provided Storid with wall-art examples in medieval times (in his immersive furnishings mod).
I'm pretty sure in time something like this will come.

Oh, and the greeks/romans/etc painted absolutely everything, so this is awsome for that time period too. Just missing some heavily painted statues and pottery

Would be really cool to have some repeating wall art like in the Witcher 3. Those kinds of flowery wall paintings and patterns were more common in medieval buidings. They were obsessed with color and had no concept of color balance, so they likely looked like a mix between 50-70s wall paper and a childs drawings on a wall.

They would probably paint every section of wall a random different color if they could afford the paint/dyes, so sometimes I do that with this mod as it is. Often what looks ugly and crude to the modern eye would have been master artwork or the height of luxury back then
