After the invaders from Mars were repelled, the wrecks of their formidable war machines were salvaged and reverse engineered for human use. This particular model is one of the original machines after having undergone extensive modification. A secondary heat ray has been installed, and the cockpit that would have housed the martian pilot has been retrofitted with an automatic intelligence. The power supply has also been replaced while the secrets of the original reactor are studied, and a set of automaton guards have been installed to repel boarders.
