Epic Map Scripts

Description
Epic Map Scripts

Introduction:

I edited these map scripts to play alone vs the AI as well as with my friends, and I’m uploading them because I thought someone else might have fun with them.

Description:

These two scripts generate random maps with the same basic idea: to somewhat discourage early rushing and favor long, epic wars (hence the name “Epic Map Scripts”).

Both types of maps are based on standard random maps, and both share these added features:

> Teams are connected by land or shallows, while enemy lands are only accessible by transport ship. (Playing with the "Team Together" option is necessary.)

> Increased resources: sheep, deer, stone and gold are much more abundant than on standard maps. There is plenty of wood as well.

> Many more Relics: depending on the map size. Tiny and Small maps have 10, Medium and Normal have 12, Large and Giant have 15, and LudiKRIS has 20.

> Special REGICIDE features: besides the normal extra villagers, castle and king, in regicide games each player begins with 3 extra relics near their town center, a monk and a hunting wolf.

Specific characteristics:

“Epic_Rivers” is based on the standard “Rivers” script. All players are separated by narrow rivers and there are shallows connecting teammates. Somewhere around the middle of the map there are islands with large amounts of stone and gold, and a few wolves.

“Epic_Landmasses” is based on the standard “Team Islands” script. Teammates are on the same landmass and are separated from the other team(s) by water. The main difference with “Team Islands” is that these landmasses are not entirely surrounded by water, but instead they reach the edge of the map.

Personal notes:

Some of us personally prefer long wars and large battles with elite post-imperial armies over small, feudal age skirmishes. The abundance of resources and relics helps facilitate this, especially on 1 vs 1 games.

If anyone is wondering, the point of not being entirely surrounded by water (in “Epic_Landmasses) is that if you don’t have a strong navy you can still build up your strength inland and not be wiped out by cannon galleons.

In regicide games, the monk can be used to move the relics around and go out and collect new ones until a monastery can be built to house them. The hunting wolf can help explore, gather sheep, kill other wolves, etc. It regenerates health and cannot be converted, but if it’s killed it cannot be retrained.
