Description
A notice on quality

Please be aware that I can either release what I have, or wait for another opportunity to clean it up. Who knows when that will be. I figure if you don't want to deal with something that has rough edges, you can just not use the mod. It would be no different than not releasing it at all for those who don't want to deal with jank.

That said, the mod is playable with a single caveat.

Known issues

  • You need another XL tech to unlock the Battleship's XL section. Lunar Surge does not do that for some reason despite my attempts to allow it. This is the only gameplay-related bug and it does have a work around.
  • Some text is missing, specifically in regards to Lunarium workers.
  • Weapons don't have any White Matter or Lunarium upkeep. This isn't a bug. I couldn't get things working the way I wanted and the system for dealing with deficiencies has been fleshed out on the main game's side. I don't like how I rebalanced it, but it's better than nothing.

What I plan to do about this

For now? Nothing. Later this year, perhaps when I update the mod to 3.5, I'll cut out the broken stuff entirely and put it in a separate mod. The next opportunity for major changes will be July 2023, but I do hope to fix up things that are legitimately broken. And if someone knows how to fix some of these issues, feel free to reach out to me.

What's new

  • 5 tiers of basic LD (instead of 4)
  • 3 tiers of PD (instead of 1)
  • A Titan version.
  • LD now use two special resources.
  • Seven buildings (three refinery type buildings, and four power plants)
  • Rebalancing so they are more powerful, but can't be spammed.

Done but coming in a later release

  • Strike craft
  • A defensive utility component

What is to come

  • Maybe a ship power plant.
  • Thrusters
  • Missiles (for lore reasons the defensive component is a prereq)
  • Freezing planets will have their own districts.
  • Complete rework of the Lunari system start.
  • If possible, a world cracker that turns stars into black holes and randomly turns habitable planets with moons into freezing (permafrost) worlds.
  • ARCHAEOLOGY!!! (Yes, I needed that in caps. Also, the three exclamation points were also a must.)
  • Make an XL version of the Lunar Arrow[s] for SCX's Dreadnought[/s].
  • Make a custom projectile for the Lunar Arrow (currently uses the one for Scourge Missile...which I'm fine with for now).
  • Add separate tech for non-Spiritualists with custom descriptions.
  • Include special combat computers specific to the Lunari. Tracking and to hit are useless, but the picket behavior may be desired.

My personal wish(ful thinking) list

  • Add Lunari Discharge armed armies (requires new art and there are technical limitations presented by the game engine).
  • Make it so that Starbases us non-heretical weapons. (don't think this is possible, but one can dream.)

Introduction

This is a restored and re-imaged version of Team Nessassity's Lunar Discharge, a weapon specific to the Lunari from their mod Elves of Stellaris (still required for this mod to work). The problem was that one of the changes brought by 2.0 was changes to Disruptors which essentially made them like Nessassity's Lunar Discharge weapons, making them redundant.

All I've done, for now, is re-image them as kind of like the opposite of guided weapons -- they do extra damage to shields and penetrate armor. I may, in the future, turn up the dame, turn down the shield damage bonus and add a hull damage penalty to emphasis some of the differences, but for now, I won't. I have bigger problems.

The bigger problem being balance with the rest of the game. My aim is for these to be somewhere between perfectly balanced and OPAF. Just a bit OP since mixing them with other weapons not endorsed by the Divine Council is heresy, and we don't want to gimp our space elves (>_>). In particular the Point Defense weapon is a mess. Balancing it with the rest of the game is just this side of a lost cause if I want to also keep it to image I have of the weapon system. Which I post below. I have a laundry list of things I want to add, but first is fixing the mess I made. Especially the damned PD. I almost omitted them.


Design

The Lunar Discharge damages shields and ignores armor.

Instead of developing new technologies with similar effects (one wavelength of laser to another or synchronized magnetic fields to constant Lorentz force), it's the same tech but refined.

It's broken in it's current state. I DO have plans to update it, but don't expect those plans to ever bare fruit. :( I'm sorry.

I don't mind the update frequency, I really don't. Modders are gamers, and these updates are, by and large, good. I will argue until I'm blue in the face that patch 2.0 was a massive mistake, but the vast majority of patches have been positive. The real issue is the upload process. I've seen other modders complain about this too.

Its a pain in the arse isnt it the amount they're updating! One hand, its good because you know bugs and that but it really messes up the modding side of things.
I'm a modder on TW Warhammer and I couldn't upload my mods on Wh2 for most of the game's life. Stupid Launcher issues

I haven't tried. I felt a bit too disheartened. I finally got the mod fixed up at least enough that it was playable (albeit with quite a few non-game-breaking issues), but then I couldn't submit it. Then I didn't have time to work on it. Now the mod is again out of date.

The thought of fighting with the launcher tomorrow to try to get it to upload is really stressing me out (and right before bed). I'm sorry. I tried to get it out. But I just can't. I'll try again later. I have no idea when.
