Caemel Velite

The Caemel Velite is an experimental capital ship destroyer with a fearsome arsenal of missiles, torpedos and drones contained within a compact, modular design. The ship is comprised of a command hull flanked by two missile hulls. Each hull can be detached and controlled independentally or, as a last resort, fired at enemy ships via a series of timers.

Summary:

The Velite is a heavily modified Caemel modular explorer refitted with the sole intention of crippling high value capital ships. The Velite comes equipped with two drone fighters used predominantly to scout out new targets. Upon detection, the Velite engages at extreme range with its dual torpedo launchers. Depending on the scenario, the port and starboard hulls can be detached to engage at close range while the command hull continues to fire torpedoes. The hulls are also equipped with timers allowing them to act as enormous torpedoes in a last-ditch assault.

The Caemel Velite prioritises lateral manoeuvrability over straight line speed, allowing it to run rings around other ships of its size. To this end, the ship uses heavy armour only sparingly, relying on it’s port and starboard hulls to shield habitable areas. A combination of redundancy and the removal of volatile hydrogen engines help to keep the Velite operational in punishing encounters.
