[Fighter Blueprint] MEC VF-4 'Vidua' Missile Fighter

Description
Missile technology is one of the oldest forms of weaponry used by spacecraft. From dumbfire rockets to sophisticated guided cruise missiles, the combination of warhead and propulsion system has proven itself an effective way of delivering damage throughout the ages. Nevertheless, modern defensive technology has presented some technical challenges for missile-based weapons platforms - electronic countermeasures, point defenses, energy shields, and ablative armor, to name just a few.

At the Muthos Engineering Consortium, we decided that we didn't want to put a missile fighter on the market until we were able to do it right. The VF-4 'Vidua' is the first MEC fighter to ever carry missile launchers as a primary weapon. Equipped with four missile tubes (two on each wing), the 'Vidua' can bombard its target with either MEC "Stinger" dumbfire missiles or MEC "Mandible" guided missiles. While ammunition storage is generally a concern for missile-equipped fighters, innovations in warhead miniaturization allow this new fighter to carry enough missiles to remain in the fight for a long time. While the 'Vidua' is not quite a fast as, say, the VF-1 'Simillima,' we think that its unique choice of weapon more than justifies its presence in the field.

The MEC 'Vidua' is exactly 200 blocks. It is named for the ground hornet (actually a yellow jacket), Vespula vidua. It seems to not have much trouble docking with the MEC 'Vespa,' in case you wish to use them together.

Screenshots (besides the auto-generated preview image) show fighters at true scale - when you use this blueprint to produce fighters, that's the level of detail you can expect from the final product.

This ship is intended for use as a fighter blueprint, as it lacks the critical ship components necessary for player control.
