Golden Thorn

Description
This compound, titled "Golden Thorn" for it's unusual molecular structure, is a highly abrasive type of sludge. It's molecular structure makes it effectively 'hook' into other materials, but the individual molecules try to stick together. So, as the majority of molecules are moved in one direction or another, the 'hooking' molecules drag cuts along the molecular level into the surface of whatever material it is being dragged across. These cuts are so small that they would not be visible to the naked eye, but every molecule of this sludge which is in contact with the other material creates these cuts. So, their effects are compounded fairly quickly.

The sludge is primarily used to smooth surfaces down, but it is also being employed as a cleaning agent by some institutions. Ultimately, it is a fairly mundance type of material, but extremely effective at it's task. By far, it is the most tame material developed by Adalbert Schrieb to date.

Golden Thorn has yet to become popularized or widely used in any respect, primarily due to the overlap it has with other already well-known compounds. However, with Adalbert Shrieb's growing fame earned from his other inventions, it is expected to become more popular as time goes on.

Nice puzzle! I like how the description has in-world info too. https://imgur.com/UeyXAQZ
