Strategic Facilities

Description
Features :

This mod implements a new perk that gives the possibility to research and build facilities that uses strategic resources. Each resource has 4 tier possible, bringing up to 5 the possible use of strategic supplies.

Spirit of the Mod :

Strategic resource is an interesting feature of the base game but reveal itself to be too limited. This mod aims to develop that aspect by bringing new ways to use them with rewards worth fighting for. Ultimately expanding strategic gameplay and thinking.

Everything needs to be deserved : it requires technologies and the buildings have been designed in a perspective of late-mid/late game < for "worthy" Empires.

What you need to know :

The facilities are made in multiple buildings instead of one upgradable. It is due to the fact that if you lose access to one supply, you won't have to demolish the whole upgraded building & rebuild it to roll back. Instead it will just desactivate the highest one, this does make more sense for the AI as well.

The facilities can only be built from excess strategic resources : >1

The facilities work in chains :

-Each building requires 1 base Strategic resource and produce a new one.
-Higher tier building will require the supply from the last tier and a basic one.

Meaning that :
-You must have all the lower tier buildings Up and Running
-Keep them in your main sector
-Be vigilant to keep your pop production positive, otherwise you won't get the full bonus and it could break the chain
* it may be caused by low happiness, habitalibity... so don't put them anywhere.
* Governor gives production bonus that could help.

How it works :

New Perk option that requires :
*At least 4 others perks
*Technological Ascendency Perk
*All 3 tier 3 lab technologies

It will gives you 3 New tech options that will unlock the series
The facilities are grouped in the 3 first tiers, 1 Tech for each Tier, for each section = 9

Tier 3 & 4 are rare technologies, Tier 4 are made separately and requires "Mega-engineering"
Tier 4 create their own new strategic resource with wider bonuses.

All facilities can harvest energy deposit, as a comfort tech.

Additional Notes

It was not easy to keep things somewhat balanced, valuable and original at so advanced technologies and iterations. I did my best.

If you find something "OP" as : "Gives unfair advantage that ultimately ruins the game experience and the fun that comes with it". Please make your report.

If you encounter a bug of any kind, problem or have a suggestion, don't hesitate!

It is my very first mod, please don't be mean.

Please, Enjoy!

I'm interested in any form of feedback

Any update planned for 2.2?

@Mayonnaiz There seems to be either a lot or barely any work to do, considering the state or non-state of strategic resources. Should we have this conversation here?

Sure

We can talk about solutions after the next DLC's release, if you're still interested.

@FiddleSticks96 That is why I would like to wait till then, to be honest. I modded some stellaris, but not much strategic resources and I would like to learn them with the new system. A complete recoding is an almost certainty if not a complete overhaul, if the modding dev dairy is anything to go by.

@Verence So all I have to do is to go to line 23 of the sf_tech.txt file and rename something to t3_5? What exactly does that line need to look like?

@In_sanity If you can get permission it would be great if you picked up where the author left off; however, 2.2 is drastically changing strategic resources. I'm not sure how it will affect this mode but it may need a complete overhaul.

I don't know if you plan to update this for 2.2, but if you don't I would like to request permission to upload the version I'm gonna make of it my own use. Of course if plan on updating it I might not even make one, but since this haven't been updated in quite a long time, I thought to ask anyway.
