Swanston Square

Description
Swanston Square is made up of a 34-storey residential tower and the heritage listed Maltstore (not included), which has undergone restoration works to accommodate new retail and commercial spaces.

The tower façade features the face of William Barak, an indigenous elder of the Wurundjeri Tribe.

Asset Stats:
Main Mesh: 5018 Tris
Custom LOD Mesh: 336 Tris
Lot Size: 7x7

Main Textures: 3072x3072 (Very large)
Custom LOD Texture: 1024x1024 (Also pretty large)
Maps: Diffuse, specular, normal, illumination and colour

RICO Settings: Level 4 High Residential with 50 homes.

About:
This is my first attempt at a tower and all was going well until I downsized the texture and went a bit muddy at lower resolutions. I had a hard time posting a lower resolution version of this (because I don't think it looks all that good), but can post it if there is any demand. I think this may look better if I was to retexture it at a lower resolution to begin with rather than trying to scale it down, but will post this as is for now as I have spent way too long on this and want to get back to my residential series. Of course if anyone wants to take a stab at this, more than happy to post the texture files, for those who don't want to use Mod Tools.

Swanston Square is part of the Carlton United Brewery redevelopment and is primarily a student residence. The front facade is of William Barak, who was a 19th century aboriginal artist. The building was intended to be optimally viewable from the Shrine of Rememberance in Melbourne.

@windowlicker.gx1. I haven't been up to the Shrine since the face has been unveiled a couple of years ago so that was only based on what was said on a website :-). I have only seen it from walking up Swanston

Was wondering who the face belonged to when I saw the building the other week. Interesting about the view from the Shrine, I don't recall seeing it from the shrine... will have to take another look :)

@Ququee, Will take a look. I like the look of Victoria One and think that can be done reasonably easily as well as Aurora. The latter has a nice shape, but found some floor plans that will help with modelling. Empire and Lighthouse look good, but not sure how to tackle that without a lot of tris, so those would have to wait until I have more modelling experience.

Loving these Melbournian projects! could you possbily do some of the new residental deveolpments such as Victoria One, Vison apartments, Empire, Aurora or the Lighthouse etc? ^.^
