Meet the Varven, a faction with stabbing as a focus.


The Varven are a warrior race, which has ravaged across the multiverse, and now are coming to yours!

They utilize a variety of weapons that affect your ship directly - by piercing right into, or in the worse case, through it. These weapons are what they call "Lanzen" and are reminiscent of the thorns you would see on the surface of spiky plants. However, "Lanzen" don't fire a petty light beam at you, in the hope of potentially hitting you. No, they instead deal tremendous amounts of physical trauma upon your hull. And don't think of shooting them down before they destroy you, as they are made of one of the most durable compounds in the multiverse, and especially the larger variants are used as armor plating by ships and stations alike.

But, outranged - outplayed, right? False, even they know that ramming into you isnt always possible. But they will stab you anyways - meet the "Varven Launcher" and "Lanzenwerfer" or, as what they are commonly known as: Rocket and Missile launchers. With these weapons you wont be safe from the Varven through sheer distance. The "ammunition" either consists of a simple explosive rocket/missile, as expected, or, as unexpected by the common fly, of so-called "Impact missiles".

These Impact missiles are the prototype form of the Varvens ranged melee weaponry:
Imagine your common missile, being fired from your ship, homing in on your opponent and exploding. This is largely the same for an Impact Missile, but scratch that "exploding" part. Instead, imagine your missile tear through your enemy with great velocity, potentially attacking the core of the ship itself!
The Crownpiece of this are the feared "Impaktspeer" type rocket - fast, gigantic and destructive. If these hit you anywhere near your core, its over. Add to that the fact that no amount of PD could destroy an potential swarm of those.

So be aware friend, the Varven are onto you.
