Era - 1950s / 1970s - WWWF / NWA

A supremely popular wrestler in his time, Bobo Brazil (his actual name, Houston Harris could have well been a great wrestling name) came up through the Midwest but would change the face of wrestling around the entire nation.

Brazil is often cited as "the Jackie Robinson of Professional Wrestling," and like his fellow pioneer, played Negro League baseball before making his name, nationally. Brazil became a fan favorite around the country, becoming the first black wrestler to gain a large multiracial fanbase, as a fan favorite. He feuded with the nefarious Original Shiek in Detroit and would even win the NWA World title from Buddy Rogers in 1962, although the victory would be disputed afterwards.

Brazil's straight forward brawling tactics would get the best of many opponents, his Cocobutt leaping headbutt serving as crushing knockout weapon.
