Description
This Mod introduces a new form of Power Generator to Surviving Mars, the 'Geothermal Tap'. These can be found in the 'Power' build category.

The Geothermal Tap is relatively small, and functions in many ways like a 'reverse' Wind Turbine - it works best at low elevations, and is less productive during Dust Storms. It also costs a relatively high number of resources to build, but can be easily maintained.

Unlike most Mods, 'Geothermal Tap' can be activated and will appear within a previously saved game.

[KNOWN ISSUE: The texture of the 'PumpStationDemo' Entity used for this Mod has some strange artifacts / effects that make it display minor graphical glitches in certain light. These will need to be fixed by work on the 3D model itself.]

@Thundercraft - I'd like to do some updates, when I can get some time away from work. Like you say, I think the development cycle is complete, so hopefully this will be a legacy update

Is there a ghost of a chance of this mod getting an update?

If the author does not feel like updating this, can you grant permission for others to update this in your stead?

The last game update was over a year ago. And it looks suspiciously like the devs have abandoned the game to it's current state, so I doubt you'd have to worry about future game updates breaking mods again.

Mars has a mostly dead core and very limited geothermal heat.

@Haeffound - 1600+ people seem happy with it. Also, there is a limit on the amount of text we can add. Installing takes seconds, and mods can be reviewed in-game using the Mod Manager / Encyclopedia.

You should had the number (maintenance, production...) in the description or in a picture. People don't want to have to install and see afterwards.

@Kevin - The 3D file isn't in the Mod, as it is a 'found' entity included in the game's original files. Doubtless it can be extracted somehow, but my expertise doesn't cover that!

@ErrantSword - How does one access the 3D model files? Doesn't seem to be located in the mod's folder; all that's in there are some .tga and .lua files.

Thanks ErrantSword, figured it might be some kind of a bug too. Its weird to me that the altitude doesn't determine the output boost. Why put it there in the first place if it doesn't Influence the gameplay in anyway^^
