Journal of Conrad Azohi - Day 161 after embarking

After several months on a trader ship and then a few more wandering through foreign lands, I have found a first candidate for my research. There is a community living in the Sin Hult Mountains whose elders practice alchemy. It's likely that they were taught the craft from a travelling alchemical engineer some years ago. After all, the molecular reconfiguration they enact are certainly alchemical in nature.

Due to the isolation of the community, they've needed to create their own transmutation engines, which they tend to keep small, akin to the production alchemy cabinets in my imperial homeland. Most of the application of their alchemy is towards medicinal compounds and antidotes, which is understandable considering the famed plagues and venomous serpents native to the Sin Hult Mountains. It is likely only because of this alchemical expertise that this culture has managed to endure as many years as it has.

Many of their techniques are bizarre. A prime example of this is the purifying acid I have recorded on the following pages. It utilizes vitae and elemental fire to create a burning acid which scours away all microbial life it touches. It boggles my mind how this compound could possibly work, using vitae, of all things, to kill. By my understanding of alchemy, this shouldn't even be possible, yet I've seen it in action, and it is very effective.
