Disatvantage: Cause of that you can not define custom areas to carve out when placing a blueprint, you the player need to manually use your handheld drill and carve out the interior. But gravel always is usful, isnt it?

Atvantage: The entire terrain-filled room (except the lift) between the surface and the actual base below leads to, that AI (turrets) are not beeing able to "see" through terrain. So even if there is something below surface they would shot at, they could'nt aim at it.
