Description
I've always thought it would be nice if I could put some walking paths through the wilderness and have my citizens come walk upon them simply for the love of nature, but alas, they never seem to be interested in walking on paths unless they go somewhere important. Well not any more with the new Wilderness Park building Kit, the paths act as parks that attract people to them, so all you need to do is place them, and tourists and citizens will flock to them.

Essentially what I've done is, make a number of parks that don't need to be placed on the roadside, that are simple paths that can be connected to one another using gravel walkways found in landscaping tools. While they don't need to be placed directly on the road, they do need road access, meaning the entrance needs to be placed near a road, otherwise they wouldn't attract anyone. Each park piece has a small bit of path sticking out to indicate the side that needs to be near the road, and for the purpose of this mod, I've also included a specialty road type called "Wilderness Park Road".

The road looks the same as a gravel road, and is found right next to it in the roads menu. It has no zoning or parking, the speed limit is extremely slow, nearly walking speed, and they're quieter than gravel roads. People will walk all over the road, including right down the middle, and simply avoid cars. This gives it the feel of being more of a path that can be driven on than a real road.


The idea is to find a nice empty wooded area, plop down some wilderness park road in whatever shape you like, then place as many of the wilderness park path pieces as you like (remembering that the side with the path sticking out needs to be near a road). Then connect the ends of the park paths together using gravel walkways. and voila, you have your very own wilderness park.

There are 8 assets included in this mod

-Wilderness Park Path 1-7 (found in the parks menu) : Act like normal parks, increase land value and happiness, attract tourists. Do not need to be placed roadside, but needs road access, there's a difference.

-Wilderness Park Road (found in the roads menu) : Very low speed limit, no zoning, no parking, pedestrians will walk all over the road including right down the middle and will avoid cars.

Fantastic set of assets! I’ve been searching for a way to build a large national park with a network of trails since I started building my city.

This combo of trails and roads allow you take parks deep into wilderness territory while preserving road access for emergency vehicles etc.

You can’t zone the roads, but I used the Cobblestone Pedestrian/Shared Street by Urbanist for gateway roads into the park that accommodate low density commercial, and service buildings.

Wow, that looks great, hadn't seen that. A national park is exactly what I wanted, and they'll be able to do it so much better than I can, can't wait.
