VE - Lighting Dark

Description
This mod only changes settings regarding light and shadow, but does not contain any Skybox or sun modifications.
It is best combined with a dark skybox.

You can customize your skybox with my VE Collection .
It includes Skybox, Sun and Environment as seperate mods. They can be combined so that you can build your Skybox to your liking.

These are the same settings I use in my VE - Preset Purple mod.

🛠︰Load Order ・────────・・・
Unless otherwise stated, the mod load order should be as follows:
  1. Sun
  2. Ligthing
  3. Skybox
  4. Preset
Reverse this for dedicated servers

"Reverse this for dedicated servers"

FYI the mod load order is automatically inverted (compared to the .cfg) when using the Keen dedicated server GUI tool, same as the single player client.

A better and less-confusing phrasing could be "reverse this if manually implementing mods via config files".

It is the illumination if you get close to things... but it's specifically the ground below your feet while crouching and it's not during the day that I'm talking about.

These are all taken in the same time and place, just with different angles looking at the ground while crouching.

Hm don't know what you mean with "weird light". Maybe you can share some screenshot. Maybe even with a comparison between my mod and the SJGR mod.

There is an illumination if there is light (eg. day) and you get closer to things, but SJGR has it also. Without it shadows would too dark.
I know that's not as good as it should, but the lighting system in SE not event close to realistic, and we try to get "real darkness" with our mods.

But off course I will try to fix the issue if I understand it better :lunar2019laughingpig:

Actually after a bit more experimentation, this mod seems to basically do away with the weird light you get when looking closely at the ground and occasionally other things: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1136188499

On the other hand they haven't done away with the light lag, at least not on all systems. On my friend's machine turning off lights or moving from room to room has no real delay, but on mine with *anything but your mod* there is a pronounced lag in lighting change that makes the game seem absurd.

Maybe you two can can coordinate and figure out how to improve both mods.

The way the entire world changes to local lighting shifts that you and ziOn1de were discussing. As I said I haven't seen any better configuration.

Which problem? Maybe that's something we can tweak?

I've tried every lighting mod on the workshop and the problem is least pronounced in this mod. It's not perfect but I'm impressed.

"But there seems to be a bug in the current version in Space Engineers where I get random light source in specific view angles and it was lighting up a dark room."

Yes, taht's exactly what i'm talking about :P So frustrating, haha.

In Space Engineers the environment itself emits light and it gets stronger the closer you are. I already reduced it by a huge amount and dark rooms should be dark even if you look at the ground. Nearby lights, bloom, reflections can emit light depending on your position and view angle, but it should not light up the entire room.

But there seems to be a bug in the current version in Space Engineers where I get random light source in specific view angles and it was lighting up a dark room.

Lighting in Space Engineers is sometimes a bit strange XD.

Thank you! Tried it out now, and no more flickering! But still there's an issue (Which i think is with how the vanilla shading works). When I'm in a closed room it's all dark and nice, but then when i look at then ground near me everything lights up. You know how this can be fixed?
