No Engineer backpack NON SAVE BINDING

Description
The "No Engineer Backpack" seems to be a popular mod, but unfortunately, it binds to your save, and once you use it, you cannot load the save file again without the mod. This version does NOT save bind.

If you wish to switch to this mod from the other one, first use the mod-unbinder mod, then download this one.

If you encounter any problems with this mod, let me know with a comment ASAP so I can go crawl in a corner and be ashamed of myself, then proceed to fix it.

TUTORIAL FOR FELLOW MODDERS:
This mod is super easy and would make for a great first modding project. I'm making this tutorial for anyone who's been intimidated to get into the guts of Torchlight 2 (see what I did there?)

After launching GUTS, you should see a "Mods" tab in the bottom right corner of the window. If it is not there, click View at the top left of the window and choose Mods. Once you've switched to the Mods tab, click on the "Remove Files" tab inside of it, and then the "Load File List" button. This will take a few seconds, as it's loading a list of pretty much everything in the game. This list is made up of two things: groups and files (it's really just the folder structure). A group can be expanded to view the files in it. What we want to do is remove the engineer's backpack by removing the mesh file for it.

Find the WARDROBE group, then the ENGINEER group, and you should see the files called backpack.mesh and backpack_f.mesh (the second one is for the "f"emale engineer). By checking the boxes next to these items, they will be removed from the mod, though It doesn't actually delete anything. When Torchlight 2 is loading something, it checks with our mod first to see if the mod uses a different version of that file, or if it says that the file shouldn't be used at all. We're telling it to not load the engineer's backpack.

We still have a problem, one that's easy to forget about: smoke will still be coming out of the engineer's back. Since smoke is an unimportant visual effect, that tells us it is probably a particle. Open the PARTICLES group, and you'll be greeted by a very long list of files. Find the "E" section, and remove the engineer_backpack.layout file. This will remove the smoke particles.

With that, our mod is done! Just a little bit above the Remove Files tab is some text that says "Mod". Click on that and chose "Package and Publish", uncheck all of the steam-related boxes, click the big "Build" button, and you're ready to go. Now launch Torchlight 2 to play with your mod and make sure it works.

Would you mind updating this mod to the latest game version released, please?

How would I add this to a private mod (stupid 10 mod limit) I see the instructions above - would I need to do that each time I update my private mod collection? Thank you for the mod, and the great tutorial!

I *think* I got it working again. Shortening the mod file's name seems to have fixed the problem (makes sense, right?). A mod with no name may still show up in your list, so you'll have to manually delete the mod with the "NON_SAVE_BINDING" in its name. Please let me know if you encounter any problems.

Thanks to zParticle for the advice on how to fix it.

The mod file seems broken. Every time I start up the mod launcher it displays a different game version in teh mod ("TL2 version: 26864.911.18592.911" or some other garbage).

I have no idea what's wrong with this. I had not changed it at all, and re-uploading it isn't working, so I can only assume it's a problem with steam. Maybe it will clear itself up after a while? At least everyone can play without it just fine in the mean time :)

No that is not working as intended! I'll see if I can figure out what the problem is.
