Journal of Conrad Azohi - Day 1,060 after embarking

The river has been poisoned.

It was an act of the Takik rulership. They must be madmen. They struck out against their people with hardly any provocation, and now are more willing to kill everyone in the entire city, rather than consider the idea of giving their lower citizens any degree of control over their existence.

It is an act of desperation, clearly. The community leaders have been exceedingly successful in convincing merchants to work with them instead of the previous rulers. The rulers clearly did not inspire any loyalty in these merchants. It is amusing, because the rulers only treated with these merchants. You would imagine that, with such an exclusive connection, there would be some sense of camaraderie there. However, no, the merchants seem to not care about the rulers at all.

It is unfortunate that they have taken a stance that, if they cannot rule Takik, then Takik will be destroyed.

They have never had to deal with an alchemist, however. I have already taught many of the citizens how to transmute distilled water out of commonplace materials, and instructed them to spread this information to as many people as possible. The river might take some time to purify, but I will be able to undo this tainting. In the meantime, the city will survive on the water they will gain through transmutation.

I have recorded the poison the Takik rulership used. It is an extremely mors-heavy compound, to the point that the body immediately recognizes it, inducing a vomiting response. This vomiting response is so violent and prolonged, that it ultimately dehydrates the recipient. It is a very unpleasant sensation, having experienced it first hand.
