The version of the Thompson submachinegun produced for the military. Some versions were later on fitted with the same simplified rear sights that were adopted for the M1 variant.

Shpagin PPSh-41

The most famous weapon of the WW2 era Red Army, the PPSh-41 was developed to replace the expensive PPD series submachineguns. Like it's predecessors, it was largely based of the Suomi KP/-31 employed by the Finnish Army during the Winter War, although the PPSh-41 possessed several upgrades over the PPD series, namely a gas system that allowed for higher accuracy, improvements to reliability and stamped steel parts that greatly lessened manufacturing costs. Over 5 million PPSh-41s were produced during WW2, with the PPS series guns serving as the followup. Large amounts were captured by the Germans, who pressed them into service as the MP717(r) while versions converted for 9mm and MP40 magazines were issued as the MP41(r). The PPSh-41 was supplied to Warsaw pact countries and saw used throughout the Korean and Vietnam wars. Even today it sees service with various militias.
