DFC Icarus (Modded)

Some time into the Imperium war, an effort began to modernize, and standardize the DFC battlefleet. The prototype that was to become the Icarus was the second of the next line of ships, the first being the Coiled Grave mk 2. Upon finishing construction, the prototype was undergoing field trials when the navigation systems seemed to malfunction, bringing the ship dangerously close to a star. The few crewmen aboard managed to reverse what was evidently sabotage and save the ship, but hull stress caused by the extreme temperatures resulted in the hull being warped in several locations. After that incident, the ship was given its name.

Designed to provide supporting railgun fire, the Icarus is not really armored enough to take hits, and is best kept under cover of more durable vessels. It is also armed with a capable flak array, allowing it to deal with most enemy fighters and strike craft that attempt to take it out.
