Description
Welcome to SAVTec

As some of you might remember, SAVTec used to have a lot of ships on the workshop.
That was before "fire" ravaged our "shipyards" and all our blueprints got destroyed (read "deleted").

SAVTec returned however with our EMGC lines, which continue to expand & are proving immensely popular.
This much wont change - I'll still be releasing more EMGC ships as & when they're ready - but I'll also be working on 2 other completely separate fleets. One of them is a secret for now, the other is my own personal survival fleet, which is huge & getting huger all the time.

To re-launch my own fleet onto the workshop I'm starting with the brand new MRV-01a.

No requirements!
  • 100% Vanilla. No mods
  • No pistons. 1 Rotor - decorative only (does not move & gets removed for play)
  • No scripts required

Introduction to the MRV-01a
The MRV-01a is, as its designation suggests, a Multi-Role Vehicle - 6+ ships in one, presented to you in "kit form" so you can decide for yourself which model suits your needs.

To assemble the ship couldn't be simpler. Just cut the parts from the sprue using a craft knife and "glue" them together using either the copy-paste function in Creative Mode or a Projector & Welder in Survival Mode.
If you are under 6 years of age, please ask for help from a responsible grown up - knives are very sharp and you could hurt yourself.

The parts come pre-painted in the standard SAVTec Black & Yellow livery, though you are of course free to re-paint them yourself if you choose.

Contents of box
Inside the box you should find 1 (one) moulded sprue with 7 (seven) components attached to it.
Instruction sheets are for wusses and you know what you're doing anyway, so we didn't bother to include one.

The various parts are as follows...

MRV-01a Ship Body
This is the main part of the ship. It carries everything you need to fly in space...
  • Reactor
  • Twin backup Batteries for emergency limp-home
  • Oxygen Generator
  • Oxygen Tank
  • Ore Detector
  • Beacon
  • Cockpit (duh!)
  • Docking ring for docking with other ships & transfering cargo
  • Forward Camera for seeing what you're pointing at
  • Aft Camera for lining up the docking ring
Welding, Drilling, Grinding & Missile Launcher attachments
These do exactly what you'd expect. Each has...
  • 4 tools / weapons of the appropriate type
  • 4 Small Cargo Containers
  • A Spotlight
Shunting & Cargo Transfer attachment
For holding things still while you work on them - or for moving cargo / reactor fuel between 2 places. This features...
  • 2 Landing Gear
  • 4 Small Cargo Containers
  • A forward-facing Connector
  • A Spotlight
Hydrodgen Transfer attachment
For refuelling your Hydrogen-powered ships. This one features...
  • 2 Landing Gear
  • 1 Hydrogen Tank
  • A forward-facing Connector
  • A Spotlight
Conveyor integration
With any of the attachments connected to the MRV-01a, the assembled ship sports complete conveyor integration. This means that any & all cargo contained within the attachment can also be moved through the ship itself and can likewise be loaded through the ship via the aft docking ring.

Repurposing the vehicle
Once assembled with your attachment of choice, the MRV-01a doesn't have to remain as that ship forever. It can easily be repurposed & used again with any other attachment. All you need to do is grind down the bow of the ship & install the new attachment. Some attachments (namely the Welder, Grinder, Drill and Missile Launcher don't even have to be completely removed to be re-purposed - just grind away the tools & install new ones in their places. Nice!

Cockpit
Cameras provide the pilot with forward and aft views for flying the ship and for lining up the docking ring.
Although the cockpit doesn't have a direct view out into space, we believe you'll appreciate the placement of the batteries & Oxygen Tank, whos charge / capacity indicators are clearly visible from first-person view inside the cockpit.

Hotbars & control panel groups
The MRV-01a, unlike most of my builds does NOT come with pre-configured hotbars or control panel groups.
This is because it can be set up in many different ways... and configurations have a nasty habit of breaking when things are detached & re-attached to the same grid.

The control panel however has been made nice & clean for you, so finding what you need in there will be really easy.

I strongly suggest grouping the 4 Merge Blocks & connector on the main ship body, as these form the docking ring and you'll want to turn all 5 blocks on & off in one go.

More attachments & add-on packs?
I currently have no more add-ons planned for this build, though if you can think of an attachment I haven't included that'd be really useful, please let me know & I'll do my best to build it.

You are of course free to build your own attachments too.

Feedback
Comments / questions / suggestions / constructive criticism all very welcome.
I've even been known to do the odd request-build from time to time, so if you have an idea, drop me a line. If I like it I may build it.

Hey, if you're willing to take a look, i updated these to be a true multi-tool system and for the main MRV-01a to use the new hydrogen engines for primary power with a reactor as a backup.

Oh this is brilliant! Easier than building a model car
